Babcock Entrepreneurship Week (BEW) 2025

  • 10:00 AM
  • BBS Auditorium A, Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State

April wrapped up on a high note, and for us, the absolute peak was the phenomenal 2025 Babcock Entrepreneurship Week (BEW). As we dive into the vibrant energy of July here in Ilishan-Remo, we're thrilled to take you on a journey, revisiting each day's unique impact and the incredible spirit that made this year's event truly unforgettable.

Day 1: Student Power Unleashed – A New Era of Entrepreneurship

This year, BEW kicked off with an exciting twist! We handed the reins to the Babcock University Students' Entrepreneurship Club (BUSEC) executives. They took on the challenge of independently planning and executing the week's events with minimal guidance from us. Their performance? Simply impressive!

The Babcock Students’ Entrepreneurship Conference set an electrifying tone. We welcomed two brilliant speakers, both active entrepreneurs who delivered candid, relatable, and incredibly valuable presentations. Gbolahan Amusan, a current BU medical student, shared his journey building a successful clothing brand specializing in scrubs—a common sight across campus. He was joined by Chinazom Arinze, a distinguished BU alumnus who's making serious waves in the automobile industry with AUTOGIRL.

Their talks flowed seamlessly into a dynamic panel discussion featuring:

  • Uchenna Aguocha-Ohiagbaji, a final-year medical student and the current BUSEC President
  • Okwor Promise Mario, a BU Medical School graduate now excelling in his house job
  • Oluwatobiloba Abiodun-Oni, a third-year Social Work student

All active entrepreneurs, their real-world insights sparked a flurry of eager questions from students contemplating their own entrepreneurial paths. Many wanted to know: "How do I even start?" and, crucially, "How can I balance business with my demanding academics?"

The answers they received were nothing short of inspiring. The outdated notion that student entrepreneurship is a distraction or an academic "dream killer" was thoroughly debunked. Our panelists proved it emphatically:

  • Oluwatobiloba Abiodun-Oni effortlessly maintains a first-class GPA while navigating her third year.
  • Uchenna Aguocha-Ohiagbaji skillfully manages multiple businesses alongside her rigorous final-year medical studies.
  • Okwor Promise has been a serial entrepreneur throughout medical school and continues to run his ventures even as a Medical Doctor on his house job.

Their stories offered undeniable proof: it's not about choosing one path over another. It's about mastering time management and confidently prioritizing what truly matters.

Meanwhile, outside, the vibrant sales exhibition by our student entrepreneurs was a hive of activity all week. Many even sold out their stock before the week ended—a clear testament to the quality of their products and the enthusiastic support from the entire university community. What an incredibly strong and inspiring start to BEW 2025!

Day 2 and 3: Leading with Purpose, Thinking Globally, and Moments that Moved Us

After such a powerful launch, Day 2 shifted our focus to leadership with the Babcock Business Leadership Seminar. This day was dedicated to crucial conversations about leadership, both within and beyond the business world. We welcomed a diverse mix of influential business leaders, student leaders, and youth leaders, including Olorunwa Alalade, Uche Chukwudi, and Daniel Ogbeide (the Executive President of the Babcock University Students' Association). They shared profound, practical insights on what it truly means to lead with purpose and make a lasting impact.

The keynote address by Dr. Adeniyi Adeyemi was particularly unforgettable. His entrepreneurial journey completely captivated the students, holding the audience spellbound throughout his session. What made his commitment even more remarkable was learning that he honored his presence despite facing an unfortunate personal incident just the day before. His unwavering dedication to nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs spoke volumes and earned our deepest respect. The indoor sessions were packed with honest, real-world answers to tough questions, igniting a wave of inspiration across the student body. And outdoors, our lively marketplace of student-run businesses continued to buzz with energy and eager patrons.

Day 3, the Babcock Global Business Seminar, took the experience to a whole new level, challenging students to think far beyond local borders. We hosted two phenomenal speakers, both thriving global entrepreneurs:

  • Iyke Ikegwuonu, a serial entrepreneur from the University of Glasgow, demystified the complexities of global business expansion, sharing how he ventured into multiple industries across different countries.
  • Gbenga Ademujimi opened students' eyes to the countless hidden opportunities around them, teaching them how to recognize and leverage global trends.

Their presentations shattered any self-imposed limitations, replacing them with a boundless sense of possibility. During the joint Q&A session, their practical, evidence-based answers to student questions were truly eye-opening and immediately actionable. By the end of the day, students weren't just inspired; their mindsets were profoundly transformed, ready to step into both leadership and global relevance.
