Babcock University’s Bachelor of Science in Architecture programme has received strong commendation from the Architecture Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) following the conclusion of its recent advisory accreditation exercise.
The accreditation team, led by Architect Titilayo Adeleye, the past Vice Chair of the Nigerian Institute of architects, (Lagos Chapter) with Architect Segun Oriola as Secretary and Architect Emmanuel Dike, praised the University for its bold vision in establishing the programme and for the remarkable progress already achieved.
At the exit presentation, Architect Adeleye commended the University’s commitment to laying a solid foundation for architectural excellence through provision of standard infrastructural facilities and adherence to admission requirements set by the regulatory bodies, including the National Universities Commission and ARCON.
Even so, the panel advised management to expedite action on other infrastructural development to raise the bar and bridge identified gaps. This recommendation reflects confidence in the University’s ability to strengthen its facilities and further enhance the programme’s delivery and expected outcomes. The permanent site of the School of Environmental Sciences, which accommodates the Department of Architecture, is already 40% completed at the Iperu campus.
In response, the President/Vice Chancellor, Professor Afolarin Ojewole, thanked the team for their diligence, working in spite of the holidays and “commitment to the progress of Babcock,” adding, "We value your recommendations and would implement them to help our students improve as we aspire to provide the best architecture programme in the country.”
