About us

The Department of Music and Creative Arts is the fifth to be established in the School of Education and Humanities. The idea to have a Music programme running in Babcock University was mooted in 2004, and given an impetus through the Senate action in 2004 recommending that music personnel be employed to start the preliminaries to the establishment of the music programme. In the sequel, several curriculum proposals for Bachelor degree in Music were written and reviewed at the various levels of the university’s Curriculum Review Committee meetings. However, the university Senate formally approved the establishment of a Music degree awarding Department in June, 2012. Thereafter, in 2013, the University submitted its application to the National Universities Commission (NUC) and was given approval to run from the 2014/2015 academic year.
