Babcock University High School (BUHS) has celebrated 182 members of its 2026 Aster Graduating Class during the institution’s 31st Graduation and Awards Ceremony, with a strong call for the students to become positive role models and game changers in society. The event also recognized 165 students transitioning from Junior to Senior Secondary School.
In his goodwill message, President/Vice Chancellor of Babcock University, Prof. Afolarin Ojewole, represented by Prof. Tolani Williams, Vice President Student Development, commended the students and staff for their perseverance and dedication. He reminded the graduates that graduation is not merely the completion of academic requirements but a celebration of resilience, growth, and the promise of a brighter future.
“Guard your character carefully. Choose your friends wisely. Demonstrate courage when others choose convenience. Let your values guide your decisions,” he advised.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Michael Akpa, Director of the BU Centre for Open and Distance Learning, emphasized the importance of integrity. “True success combines competence with character. Knowledge without integrity is dangerous. Talent without discipline is wasted. Ambition without humility is destructive. As you pursue success, never lose your humanity,” he said.
BUHS Principal, Elder Fatola Samson, charged the graduating students to contribute uniquely to society while remaining diligent and rooted in biblical counsel. “You are not just going out with certificates, you are going out as ambassadors of this school and of Christ,” he declared.
Vice Principal (Academic), Mrs. Ozichi Eluwa, described the ceremony as a moment of pride and gratitude to God, while BUHS Board Chair, Prof. Ruth Aderanti, and Alumni President, Dr. Jonathan Dangana, encouraged the graduates to remain steadfast amidst trials and cherish the bonds they share.
Head Boy, Ojo Kiisi Daniel, in his valedictory speech, reminded his peers to hold fast to the principles and values instilled in them at BUHS as they embark on new journeys. “This moment marks the end of one phase of our lives and the beginning of another. As we move forward, let us not forget the principles and values we have learned here,” he said.
The 2026 Aster Class graduation was not only a celebration of academic achievement but also a reaffirmation of BUHS’s commitment to nurturing leaders of integrity, diligence, and light for the future.
