Six divisions. One pitch. Three medals. One Babcock community.
Founder’s Day at Babcock University was more than a celebration of 67 years of grace and heritage. It was also a reminder that building a university means building people and sometimes, that happens on a football pitch.
The Vice Chancellor’s Cup brought six University divisions together:
Student Development | Financial Administration | Academic Administration | Babcock University Teaching Hospital (BUTH) | Advancement & Development | Presidency
Different responsibilities. Different teams. One community.
From Six to Four
After the preliminary rounds, four teams advanced to the semi-finals.
Financial Administration vs. BUTH
Academic Administration vs. Presidency
Then came the deciding matches:
Final: Presidency vs. BUTH
Third Place: Financial Administration vs. Academic Administration
When the final whistle blew, the podium was set:
- BUTH — Gold
- Presidency — Silver
- Academic Administration — Bronze
But the real story was bigger than the medals.
More Than a Game
For a few hours, colleagues stepped away from their usual offices, meetings, and responsibilities and onto the same field.
They ran. They competed. They laughed. They encouraged one another.
And they connected.
That is part of what health and well-being looks like in a community, creating opportunities for people to stay active, build relationships and enjoy life together.
The Cup also reflected a broader lesson in quality education: growth is not limited to what happens in classrooms. Teamwork, discipline, respect, resilience and collaboration are also lessons that shape people.
And when people from different parts of an institution come together, they strengthen the relationships that help a community thrive.
One University. One Community.
Student Development, Finance, Academics, BUTH, Advancement & Development and the Presidency may serve different purposes, but the Cup reminded everyone of something simple:
Every role contributes to the same University.
That spirit of participation, inclusion and collaboration is part of building a stronger institutional community; one where people can contribute, connect and thrive.
From ACWA to ASWA to Babcock University, 67 years of grace have been a journey of growth.
The Vice Chancellor’s Cup was simply another chapter in that story.
We walked the journey.
We celebrated the present.
We are building the future.
And sometimes, we build it together with a ball at our feet.
