MISSION STATEMENT

This Department which took off as a separate Department from the beginning of the 2004/2005 session is borne out of the University’s unquenchable desire to provide an unrivalled and high quality Christian academic, vocational and professional education in Insurance and Banking and Finance with a view to meeting the qualitative manpower needs of both national and international industries, public and private sector establishments and not-for-profit organizations through research and functional applications. This Department was granted change of nomenclature in 2019 to run finance courses which has changed the Department’s name to Finance.

1 Objective

The Department offers courses leading to the award of Bachelor of Science Degree in the areas of Finance. The degree can only be awarded with honours. The objective of our B.Sc Degree Programme is to prepare students for careers in business organizations (including blue-chip and multinational organizations), Academic and Research. Students for this degree are prepared for efficient and effective service in diverse areas in both the Public and Private sectors.

2 PHILOSOPHY OF THE DEPARTMENT

To train the Finance students to acquire knowledge which will serve as tools to provide solutions to various social and economic problems in the society both nationally and internationally.

3 DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Students in this Department are required to complete 12 - 15 credits from the faculty in the areas of Business Communication, Business Management, Mathematics, etc.
