Application is open to every student of Babcock University; it shall be online at http://tinyurl.com/bu-work-study. Students are advised to fill their work-study application form before leaving for the summer holidays in order to be considered for the programme in the next school year.
Requirement/Eligibility To be eligible, you must be a current and registered full time student (Resident and Community). Students whose CGPA fall below 2.0 are not permitted to engage in work-study programme.
Payment of wages is done per hour (i.e. based on the no. of ours worked) hence pay can vary as work output varies. The constant thing is the rate that is paid to every department. Labour sheets are submitted to the work-study supervisor in Human Resources Department on or before the 5th working day of the new month. .

1. All students are to receive clearance from HR to show that they have applied for work-study before screening takes place (Student Residents Assistants not exempted.
2. No supervisor can screen and accept students on his or her own without clearance from HR; any supervisor who does will be made to pay the working student from his/her salary.
3. No student is to resume work before HR approval. Similarly, no student is to continue work after work-study is terminated for the period. The supervisor will pay for the hours worked prior to, or after authorization.
4. Students must clock-in before commencing any job.
5. No student should work more than 80 hours when the school is in session.
6. Students/ supervisor should not record hours when student has not clock-out.
7. No sick/vacation or off day for students. Pay is according to hours worked. No work, no pay.
8. Any excess hours signed by supervisor will be paid from supervisor’s salary account. Students are not required to go beyond the work study allocation of 20 hrs/week or 80 hrs/month.
9. All labour sheets are to be completed daily and to be signed by both student and supervisor; failure to do this will render the labour sheet null and void.
10. Any labour sheet not duly signed and submitted to HR on or before 5th of the new month will be forfeited as arrears will no longer be treated.
11. All students must use their own accounts for payments of wages, as Third party accounts (including parents’ account) will not be allowed.
12. Supervisor must monitor that students do the work assigned to them. Supervisor must ensure that students do not work beyond the maximum work-study ours for the session.
13. A maximum of 20 hours per week is allowed for all students while a maximum of 40 hours per week is allowed during holidays.
14. The supervisor is responsible for making sure that the student is full engaged by allocating meaningful job that will match the hours of work.
15. The student’s work-study status shall be reviewed every semester in order to promote efficiency and provide employment opportunities to other students wishing to enroll into the program anew.
16. Work-Study allocation ends at the end of every 2nd semester (not later than April 30) of every year.
17. During the summer semester, not all students that applied for work-study will be allocated work. Allocation shall be dependent on available spaces for work.
