Professional Diploma in Education


Babcock Centre for Executive Development (BCED) in collaboration with Department of Educational Foundation Babcock University Ilishan-Remo runs an eighteen (18) months Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) leading to the award of Professional Diploma in Education (PDE). The programme is in line with the Federal Government directives that all Teachers (Lecturers) regardless of rank must possess the required minimum teaching qualification of Professional Diploma in Education. The programme is being overseen by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) who supervises, inducts, certifies and license the graduates at the end of their programme. PDE is the approved Federal Government qualification for all non-education graduates to join and/or continue in teaching profession and to be admitted for Masters Degree in Education (M. Ed) in any University in Nigeria.

The programme runs four different study modules:
EVENING REGULAR (Every evening (4-7pm) Monday – Thursday. 
WEEKEND (Sundays only 8:00 am -4:30 pm).
SANDWICH (3rd Term Breaks – July to September).
DISTANCE LEARNING (Study Packs Available).

Any candidate wishing to migrate from one study module to another could do that not later than the end of first semester. 
You will be required at the time of registration to present copies of all relevant educational/ other credentials, complete the appropriate Registration Forms

1. Evening Regular:  First Semester for full course work and second semester for completion of remaining course work, teaching practice and student Project. Lectures run every evening (4-7: 00 pm) Monday – Thursday.  

2. Weekend Programme: Two Semesters for course work and one Semester for Teaching Practice and Student Project making a total of three semesters.This will be completed within eighteen (18) months at a stretch.

3. Sandwich and Distance Learning: Two Semesters for Course work and one Semester for Teaching Practice and Student Project making a total of three semesters for candidates. This will be completed within eighteen (18) months covering three summers (3 years).

NOTE: Teaching Practice is conducted on student’s school except where a student is not a teaching staff in any school.


There is hostel accommodation for students doing Sandwich and Distance Learning Programmes in Babcock University.
